La Romana.- Representatives of commercial banks in the Dominican Republic and Latin America, as well as regulators and supervisors from the region and delegates from international technical cooperation agencies are meeting in Casa de Campo for the IX Public-Private Sector Dialogue.

The event, sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Association of Banking Supervisors of the Americas (ASBA) and the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN) will analyze issues like financial inclusion, corporate government and financial information management.

The dialogue is being held in the framework of the Third Ordinary Meeting of Banking Association Administrators, which includes the Dominican Republic Commercial Banking Association (ABA) and representatives of banking associations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. The inaugural speeches will be made by ABA president José Manuel López Valdés, FELABAN president Oscar Rivera, local IDB representative Manuel Labrado, and Daniel Schydlowski of the ASBA.

Yep
That is how we planned it. Efficiency or future profits be damned as long as we screw over the poor!


The sad part is that there are people who actually believe that.

You think these suits would get it by now and rethink how they go about business, at least to give the impression they are fiscally responsible with their depositors and investors capital. However, it is business as usual, go to one of the biggest and richest venues in the caribbean to "analyze" financial matters and acquire a whopping tab for services rendered. You have to offer the carrot, Casa de Campo, to get them to schmooze, especially if it's on the bank's expense account. Rather than go to one of the hotels along the malecon in Santo Domingo, conduct business and leave.

And, futhermore, it's not their money!!! It's the depositors money!!! How any depositors can go to Casa de Campo for a wknd????
