Santo Domingo.- Two business associations are warning that the new Danilo Medina government is likely to face some difficult situations.
The Dominican Republic Association of Industries (AIRD) stated that “a clear vision of where we are going and how to achieve it is the only path to success.”
Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic Shipping Association (ANRD) is advising the new government to handle with care the issue of building dams on the rivers that flow into the country’s ports, as well as the subsidies it grants to road transporters. ANRD president Teddy Heinsen said that these subsidies were putting the country at a competitive disadvantage and that they create a great deal of uncertainty.
