Santo Domingo.- The Assistant Prosecutor General for the Electricity System (PGASE) Moisés Ferrer, says that in the first seven months of the year, his office has dealt a heavy blow to electricity theft.

Ferrer revealed that they have recovered the sum of RD$24,853,044.06 as a result of their persecution of large, medium sized and small clients that consume energy and evade payment.

The director of PGASE made these statements earlier this week during the inauguration of the entity’s new offices in the southern region, based in the city of Azua.

He said that the new Prosecutor’s Office would make it easier to combat electricity theft in the southern provinces, as it will be staffed with trained personnel.

Hello,
It is those same "trained" personnel that are doing the illegal hook ups in the first place!
If you just investigate all the Electricians in the country you can stop the crooks who do the connecting!
I know because I was offered the service by one of the pros.

I cannot believe any numbers our government puts out because they always lie. I do see however more and more people being forced to pay for electricity which is great. Too bad corruption is inbred into the general population. If we corrected our major corruption problems many of our other problems would simply go away.

Anyhow a step in the right direction.
