US to issue farm, temp work visas to Dominicans

New York.- The US government will issue H-2A and H-2B visas to Dominicans for farm work and temporary jobs in other areas, the US agency for Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) announced Tuesday.

The USCIS, an agency of the Homeland Security Dept., said the Dominican Republic is included in a list of 62 countries.

The announcement, cited in the Federal Register on January 17, 2014, notes that the programs for H-2A and H-2B visas allow US employers to bring foreigners to work in farms and ranches, and other temporary jobs. The authorization is valid for one year.

In a statement the USCIS said it can also approve a visa for foreign nationals of countries not on the list, if it’s determined to be of interest to the United States.
