Binational market tense as Dominican merchants threaten boycott

Dajabón, Dominican Republic.-A tense binational market with stricter controls than last week was held Mondaymorning in the border city between Haitians and Dominicans.

Haiti police and Customsinspectors make it more difficult for Dominican products to their territoryacross the bridge over the Masacre river, while Dominican business leaders warnof a boycott

Fernando Diaz andAbigail Bueno, of the local vendors and retailers associations, said theyrebuke the attitude of Haitian officials.

Quoted bylisin.com.do, the business leaders said they might shutter the binationalmarket completely next Friday, if the Haitian government continues the ban on Dominicanproducts and goods.
