USDA promotes US farm products

Santo Domingo.- The United States Embassy’s agriculturaldepartment, with support from several US companies, organized an promotionalevent for food and drink at the Las Cascadas Terrace of the Hotel RenaissanceJaragua.

The event, which was aimed at executive chefs, import directors and leadingSanto Domingo restaurant owners, was organized by Trade Coordinator PatrickDunn and Mr. Chris Rittgers, agriculture attaché, as well as internationalrepresentatives from Potatoes USA, the US Dairy Export Council (USDEC),Washington apples, California grapes, and others.

The three hour event included presentations by import companies on thewide range of US products, as well as a tasting of special cuts of importedmeats, live preparation of international dishes by guest chefs using USingredients like potatoes, imported sweet potatoes, apples, grapes and otherfruits. There were also displays of cheeses and other dairy products, as wellas wines, whiskeys and vodka by leading US brands.

The more than 150 guests had the opportunity to taste new and inventivecombinations and learn of new business proposals. The initiative is aimed at promoting the growth of US products in the Dominican market.
