A huge proportion of DR's income revolves round the tourist dollar. When a tourist starts his / her journey in Paris or Berlin there is a long period of air travel ahead. Entertainment, beautiful meals and extraordinary wines well presented can make this trip delightful and pleasant and condition the guest of the DR to enjoy the vacation to the full. Hopefully there is repeat business. I hear Air France clients say 'only AF, only DR'. AF in my experience has fine meals; fine wine. Look up the airline tables. So it is everyone's interest to raise standards on all airlines serving the DR. Good food, wonderful ambiance, exquisite service are the hallmarks of an excellent airline. But Dread is of the cattle truck mentality - shovel them on ,shovel them off. When countries such as DR put up with airlines offering this service the revenue will go down.. S. ABC, i cannot come to grips with the fact that a man such as yourself, who advocates austerity and sacrifice, would really fret himself over one meal. i mean, it is one trip, for a few hours. does it matter that much whether you get chateaubriand or jerk chicken? i mean, it is not like we are talking about a year of meals. it is ONE MEAL, for chrissakes! surely you cannot be that self indulgent. Like it or not in many human societies dinning is one of life's special pleasures. People enjoy indulging their taste buds with a symphony of flavors and enjoying first the the bouquet of a fine wine followed by this simple indulgence. Culinary art is an important aspect of life for many people from the poor to the rich. Many people going on vacation or on a trip appreciate a fine meal in the sky. Others of course just want to join the mile high club. or have a good sleep in a fine bed. S. Edited on 5/12/2011 5:41 PM by abc200. |
