Federal agents whisk off American wanted for murders in New York

SANTO DOMINGO. – An American citizen arrested by Dominican authorities on drug trafficking and murder charges in New York State was escorted out of the country Friday, after hiding out for three years.

Jose Gavillan, being held in a jail in the National Control Drugs Agency (DNCD) compound since Tuesday, was taken to Las Americas International Airport (AILA) 5:50am and US federal agents escorted him aboard a flight to New York City at 7pm.

The New York State Supreme Court had issued an arrest warrant for Gavillan, charging him with several murders and drug trafficking.
