Santo Domingo. – Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents seized US$491,460 in cash from two men who carried it in a beverage cooler in a SUV, intercepted while heading north near the Duarte highway toll plaza, in Pedro Brand.

The DNCD said Jose Alejandro de la Cruz and Ricardo Jose Baez were escorted to DNCD headquarters for questioning.

In a statement DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron said once in the DNCD compound, the agents searched the suspect’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, where the money was found. "The DNCD was casing these individuals from information that they carried a large sum in dollars of doubtful origin, in this case the product of a cocaine transaction."

So...we cannot find out who produces tainted salami...but we can show the pictures of two guys who have not been charged with anything...simply brought in for questioning.

Odd how it works here...very odd.

I'm sure those guys, that look like very experienced and qualified major league drug traffickers, are the only guilty parties, and the investigation should stop here and now.

I do not for a moment doubt that the guys are guilty of some criminal act...but oddly enough...only brought in for questioning and they get a photo op! Last I knew...carrying money is not a crime. Of course there is more to the story, but it continues to be disconcerting that small fish get the media attention and the big fish get protected.

Walt, you are such a comedian? They look more like dumb and dumber! Lol
I would have personally taken the plane from the Santiago Airport with the goodies! : )
I hope the DNCD makes them squeel like Josean, pee their pants like Danny00, and cry like El buro on election day.
The money probably came from Hipo's cigar shop. lmao
Have a great day yall!

Let’s see, a couple of near illiterates perhaps with guns and permits $$$, rather doubt a macho man would be carrying all that cash without heat; then again perhaps to these dudes that's not all that much cash. If the Narcotic Police take a piece, OK - if they are not paid they surely will be bought. The only real answer in a non-police state is to legalize it and have public education about the dangers and draw backs and deaths casual drug use (iatrogenic causes with prescription drugs as well?). There is the SIDA problem and the education process has worked pretty well, course no one got the bright idea to make sex illegal here.
