Santo Domingo.- Everything is ready for president Danilo Medina and Education minister Josefina Pimentel to formally open the school year today, during a ceremony slated for a school in his native province of San Juan de la Maguana (west).
In a statement the Education Ministry said more than 2.7 million students in public, semi-public and private, as well as preschool, primary and middle schools professional-technical centers, arts and special subsystems and adults are expected to form part of the 2012-2013 school year.
Pimentel said a successful school year is guaranteed, noting the work conducted to prepare the teachers, and physical logistics for the schedule and school hours.

Medina is placing himself into a position of high visibility regarding his sponsorship of education. He should realize the 4% of GDP allocated to the education budget for the next fours years better not have any shortfalls as it will define him, his presidency and the party.
Should there be any shortfall at all, the opposing parties will have field day taking him and the party to task.
