SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic’s second heart transplant recipient died early Monday, from cardiac arrest.
Ada Medo, 52, was subjected to a heart transplant July 15 at the Cardio-Neuro-Ophthalmology and Transplant Center (Cecanot), after suffering from chronic heart disease, and the second person to undergo the surgical procedure in the country.
Cecanot doctors said the patient had responded satisfactorily to transplant, but entered into a state of depression and had stopped eating and rejected medication, which led to the rejection of her new heart.

Rest in peace!
