Contractor gets deadline from a peeved Medina

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina yesterday complained of delays in the construction of the public market at Azua (south) and confronted the contractor with a deadline: finish the job no later than February, EFE reports.

"The work is too slow, it’s too slow," the president told Maximo Almanzar, as he toured the site on an unannounced visit after inaugurating a school in that city.

In a statement the Presidency said Medina reiterated the need finish work on the market as soon as possible to relocate businesses uprooted by a fire last year.

"I want it by February," reiterated Medina, after listening to and refuting Almanzar’s excuses, with Presidency administrative minister José Ramón Peralta standing beside him.
