Calling 911 will be easy without funds

Santo Domingo.– Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo announced that the new National Emergency and Security System 911 will be able to accept calls even though if the person does not have enough funds available in his pre-paid telephone.

During an encounter with media directors, Montalvo pointed out that the project will operate 24 hours a day, and its first stage will include eight municipalities in Greater Santo Domingo, while the second will include Santiago, Puerto Plata, the tourist areas and the country’s East region.

The Presidency chief of staff asked the population to only call the number when it was really necessary and said that those who are found to have used the emergency service needlessly would be subject to a fine up to 15 minimum wages.
