Antinarcotics adds high-tech chopper to ‘complete the siege’

Santo Domingo.- The Defense Ministry, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and the Dominican Air Force on Thursday announced the commissioning of a Bell helicopter equipped with high tech to pursue international drug trafficking networks that try to enter the country’s territorial waters.

DNCD president Julio César Souffront said the DNCD, helped by local and foreign military and intelligence agencies, has halted illegal flights and boats that tried to unload drugs brought mostly from South America. "Now, with this modern helicopter, we complete the siege against international narcotics trafficking, this time through a plan to control the air and sea."

The U.S.-manufacture helicopter features flight operations agility and quick pursuit to intercept any boat used by international drug traffickers.
