Demonstrations in Bani and New York against coal plants

Santo Domingo.– In commemoration of the birth of the Dominican Republic’s founding father Juan Pablo Duarte, two demonstrations will be simultaneously held in the cities of Bani and New York to protest against the construction of coal plants in Punta Catalina, Peravia province.

According to the National Committee for the Fight Against Climate Change (CNLCC), the demosntration in Bani will take place at the central park of that city, while the demonstrators in New York will gather at the entrance of the Dominican consulate in that US city, both events will start at 4 pm.

These activities are supported by the Committee for the Defense of Health, Environment and Agriculture of Peravia province, local associations and federations of agricultural producers and community organizations of Dominicans born in Bani who reside in New York, Boston and other US cities.
