Mystery shrouds kingpin’s alleged letter to ex president: Acento

Santo Domingo.- The lawyer of drug trafficker Quirino Paulino, Felix D. Olivares on Wednesday said he cannot avow the authenticity of letter which "El Don" allegedly sent to former president Leonel Fernandez to demand reimbursement of the money given during the 2004 to 2012 terms in office.

Acento.com.do reports that calls to the phone numbers listed on the alleged letter were not answered by a brother or a son of Paulino.

TV journalist Salvador Holguín was the first to divulge the presence of the alleged letter which the convicted drug trafficker reportedly sent to the former Dominican president.

"I’m not aware of it," said Olivares, who also put Acento reporters in contact with Paulino’s brother Danilo Castillo, to try to establish the letter’s veracity.

Castillo also said he’s unaware of the letter’s legitimacy, but promised to personally contact Paulino.

Meawhile, acento.com.do reports that Fernandez hasn’t responded to the issue of the alleged letter.
