Dominican Republic lowers its violent death rate: Govt.

Santo Domingo.- Cases of violent per 100,000 deaths decreased in Dominican Republic, making it among Latin America’s safest countries, the Justice Ministry affirms in a statement released Thursday

The report places the country in 11th place as one of the nations with the fewest recorded cases, with a rate of 16.45, compared with the most violent, Venezuela (115.98), followed by Honduras, 79.42, and El Salvador, 61.21.

Jamaica figures with 50.30; Belize 44.70; Guatemala 41.90; Puerto Rico 37.40; Panama 35.60; Haiti 30.50; Brazil 29.73; Trinidad & Tobago 28.30; Mexico 20.0; Nicaragua 17.10 and Colombia 16.50.

The lowest rates go to French Guiana 13.30; Costa Rica 12.70; Bolivia 12.10; Ecuador 11.40; Paraguay 9.20; Uruguay 8.40; Argentina 8.37; Peru 5.70; Cuba 4.20 and Chile 3.90.
