Troops nab Army colonel smuggling 3 Colombians

Santo Domingo.- TheNational Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) investigates Army Col. Yamko Muñoz,arrested Friday transporting three undocumented Colombians from Haiti, and who theauthorities try to establish his possible link to drug trafficking.

Moreover antinarcotics officialsquestion Colombians Peter Steele Demetrius, Esgalona Martínez and FermínPattirron Forbs and a Dominican who accompanied them, identified as RubenLeonardo Checo.

The Defense MilitaryIntelligence has also joined the investigation.

Quoting sources closeto the investigation, acento.com.do reports that Muñoz is also the target ofanother investigation, on which the Defense Ministry had requested his forcedretirement.

The senior officer wasarrested Thursday along the Bani-Azua road (south) by soldiers while travelingin a Toyota SUV transporting the three Colombians, accompanied by Checo.
