Buses crash in Dominican East: Death toll at 10 (Update2)

Santo Domingo.- Metropolitan Transit Authority(Amet) spokesman Diego Pesqueira Thursday afternoon said the number of deathsin the crash rose to 10.

FILE 2.- The Metropolitan Transit Authority raised the number of fatalities to 9.

FILE: Atleast eight people died from injuries when two buses full of workers of PuntaCana-Bavaro hotels crashed near the town of La Otra Banda, Higuey (east).

The mishap is thelatest deadly collision involving buses of workers and tourists in the eastregion, whose victims often blame the drivers, alleging high speeds and recklessness.

None of the fatalvictims from the collision has been identified thus far.

The MetropolitanTransit Authority reports more than 20 people hurt in the accident. The busescollided head on in a curve around 7am Thursday.
