Companies want seized plane in senator’s embezzlement case

Santo Domingo.- The prosecution in the money laundering and embezzlement case against senator Felix Bautista and six codefendants on Wednesday asked Special Supreme Court judge Alejandro Moscoso to reject a request by two US companies to hand over a Gulfstream G-1159, registry N522HS aircraft, seized as part of the investigation.

Deputy Justice minister Carlos Castillo asked the judge to reject the motion by lawyers for Sparkles Management Services, LTD and Secure Airocrp, Inc, citing a lack of capacity to proceed in court.

The prosecutor said the attorneys Marra Xavier Martinez and Manuel Conde Cabrera, who made the motion on behalf of Anja Wischenbart and Thomas Bartolozzi, don’t have the special power to represent those companies. The lawyers however showed Moscoso an alleged power-of-attorney to represent them.

The judge then retired to chambers to deliberate on the motion.
