Drug control agents get new uniforms with bar code

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Monday assigned new uniforms to its agents, with bar codes as a security measure aimed to prevent their use for other purposes.

DNCD president Julio Cesar Souffront said the uniforms will also avert criminals from using them to impersonate DNCD agents to commit felonies. "Also, if a regulated uniform is lost, its barcode will immediately determine which member or agent it belongs to once recovered and identify possible links with organized crime."

The official said the encoded garments, bought for RD$26.1 million in a call for tenders, are part of the DNCD’s fight against drugs, micro-trafficking and money laundering in all its facets.
