Dominican Republic works to extradite Frenchman in ‘air cocaine’ escape

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Dominguez on Sundaysaid he’s working on the request to extradite French national Christophe Naudin,who’s accused of organizing the escape of two French pilots sentenced to 20years in prison for drug trafficking in the “air cocaine” case.

Naudin, an aviation security specialist, was arrested Thursdayby Interpol in Egypt on on an international arrest warrant.

Dominguez stressed the international cooperation to arrest themain suspect in the escape of French pilots Bruno Odos and Jean Pascal Fauret,who were under house arrest when they fled.

"The fight against international crime needs stronginstitutions and instruments to properly enforce it as each case warrants,"the official said in a statement.

Naudin was questioned by the Egyptian authorities to determinewhether there is enough evidence to open an investigation on Dominican Republic’srequest.
