615 people displaced, 19 communities isolated due to downpours

Santo Domingo.- The downpours affecting the Dominican Republic since early week will continue during the weekend in most of the country, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported today.

According to the COE, so far 615 people have been displaced to homes of relatives and friends and 19 communities were reported as isolated, while the alert was extended to 14 provinces and the National District, ten of them are in yellow alert.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) said that there will be downpours with thunderstorms and gusty winds in most provinces Saturday and Sunday, due to the high content of moisture.

The COE reported that in Sanchez Ramirez province several communities are isolated: Los Javos, La Javilla, La Herradura, El Laja, El Naranjo, La Culata, Los Tres Pasos del Chacuey, El Corozo, Las Tres Palma and La Loma de la Gallina. Also Sierra Prieta, Comedero, Caballero y Hernando Alonzo, Platanal, Chacuey Abajo, Bavari, El aguacate and Don Miguel.
