Ambitious program teaches how to treat tourists in the Colonial Zone

Santo Domingo.- The Colonial City Tourism Development Program(PFTCC), implemented by APEC University and Nebrija University of Spain, graduated32 new teachers certified as facilitators in Tourism Services, to spread their learningamong service providers and neighbors who work in Dominican Republic’s ColonialZone.

The "Tourism Trainers Training" course forms partof the PFTCC’s Local Tourism Development Integration, designed to strengthenthe skills of local human resources in the Colonial Zone, to provide qualityservices for tourists and increase income.

Participants were selected according to their conditionsand were awarded scholarships financed by a Tourism Ministry program for thehistoric center, on a Inter-American Development Bank loan.

The new teachers received 130 hours of theoretical courses duringsix months and 20 hours of practice in six modules on the topics of Pedagogyand Teaching Methodology, Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Tourism and security,guides, interpreters, heritage and customer service.
