US Peace Corps teach 200 students about pressing health issues

Santiago – The United States Peace Corps recognized 200 middle school students who completed the program Escojo Mi Vida (I Choose My Life), on the importance of values and self-esteem, teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and HIV / AIDS, among other health issues.

Community members, staff and Peace Corps volunteers attended the event held at the Ernesto Disla Nuñez high school.

Peace Corps volunteer Dante Velasquez started the program last September, with five courses (30-40 students per course) and two additional groups led by young multipliers.

One of the goals that the school had established was to reduce teen pregnancy rates high school students, which was achieved within groups involved after the project was implemented.
