IFC appoints new representative in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The InternationalFinancial Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group institution for the privatesector, on Wed. announced theappointment of Guillermo Villanueva as representative in the DominicanRepublic.

Villanueva will be in charge ofcoordinating the IFC investment program and advisory services in the Dominican Republic,based in Santo Domingo.

"Since the DominicanRepublic became a member of IFC in 1961, we have invested US$986 million in theprivate sector of the country, including US$293 mobilized from other sources,"said Luc Grillet, IFC Senior Manager for the Caribbean and Central America.

"More importantly, IFC customershave had a major impact on economic growth by generating jobs and supportingkey sectors economy, such as financial services, infrastructure, energy and manufacturing.

“Guillermo brings tremendous professionalexperience and a deep knowledge of the Dominican market. Through his leadershipwe expect to continue our strong track record in the country to provide opportunitiesfor the private sector where they are needed."
