Santo Domingo.-  The current Dominican sports phenom has again raised the bar as he has done in the iconic track on Carl Lewis win two Olympic golds in 1992, Kevin Young set the still standing world 400 meter hurdles record and Javier Sotomayor leading Cuba’s return with a stunning fifth place in medals after 12 years absent.

Luguelín Santos yesterday performed as predicted and is expected to rise to a podium in London, after winning the country’s first medal in the World Youth Athletics (below 20).

Santos, 18, listened to the Dominican national anthem at the Luis Companys Olympic Stadium with a gold in the 400 meter finals, in 44.84 seconds.

The Bayaguana (east) native was followed by Arman Hall (45.39) of the U.S., and Steven Solomon (45.52), from Australian.
