Dominicans get atough win in World Volleyball round

Tokyo.- Gina Mambrú ledthe Dominican Republic Monday morning to get its first victory in the firstround of the Women’s World Cup Volleyball FIVB, 3-0 (28-26, 26-24,25-17) over Kenya at the Yoyogi National Stadium.

Mambrú led the scoringwith 17 points while Kenya´s Miercy Moim´s 15 headed the losing cause. TheDominicans topped the Kenyans in blocks, services, and attacks 50-37.

Dominican Republicjumped ahead with a 4-1 lead in the first set, but Kenya was quick to react toclose the gap at 5-4. Kenya continued to lead with a service point in the firsttimeout 8-7.

Despite the stiffcompetition, Dominican Republic went on to the win.
