Frigid night in the hot tropics

Santo Domingo.- Temperatures in Valle NuevoNational Park (central) dawn Friday reached what could be a record-setting -5degrees Celsius (23 F), according protected area administrator, Julio César delos Santos.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) said thetemperature in the nearby city of Constanza dropped to 7 degrees Celsius on Thursday,and noted that it’s always colder Valle Nuevo.

"In Valle Nuevo there are even coldertemperatures than in Constanta itself, where the lowest temperatures arerecorded in the entire country," Onamet said, quoted by diariolibre.com.
