Santo Domingo.- Deputy Environment minister Manuel Serrano on Mon. said over 5,600 hectares of land have been planted through the seven agroforestry development projects nationwide.
“The execution of these projects will have a significant impact on the quality of life of the people, the production of the soils and the production of water nationawide. In addition, they are a spearhead for the development of each of the communities where they are located,” the official said in a statement.
The head of Environment’s Forest Resources said they’re taking advantage of the rainy season to intensify the work and continue planting Dominican Republic’s mountains.
Serrano adds that this year’s reforestation goal of those projects is 9.6 million Criollo pine, mahogany, cedar, cabirma, among other plants.
