United Way arrives in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo. – United Way Dominican Republic (UWRD) on Thurs. announced the start of operations in the country, being one of the non-profit organizations with the furthest reach in the world, and develops projects to support education and entrepreneurship in vulnerable sectors.

“United Way, present in more than 40 countries, comes to the Dominican Republic with the mission to empower the development of people and communities through self-sustainable projects of social investment and voluntary work, to improve the quality of life of Dominicans,” the nonprofit said in a statement.

The launch the charitable organization was headed by José Pedro Ferrao, president of United Way Worldwide; Rick Waugh, president of the Waugh Foundation; the priest Jesús Zaglul, national director de Fe y Alegría, and Robert Williams, Country General manager for Scotiabank Dominican Republic.
