Santo Domingo.- Animal protection organizations have filed a report to the DR-Cafta Environmental Affairs Secretariat on several cases of alleged animal abuse in the Dominican Republic.

It specifies the situation of the animals in the Municipal Zoo at Moca (north), as denounced by representatives of the Dominican Animal Cruelty Prevention Society (Sodopreca).

The groups denounce the precarious situation of the animals and seek an investigation by the Secretariat, after it receiving the complaint last year.

The information will be presented to the seven DR-Cafta treaty countries to verify if the Dominican Republic complies with its environmental legislation.
