Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Central Bank on Mon. said consumer prices climbed 0.26% in May compared to April this year.
“Therefore the accumulated inflation between January and May was 1.22%. Meanwhile, the annualized core inflation, that is, the one of the last twelve months, stood at 2.70%,” the Central Bank said.
It said the rise in prices in May is mainly from a higher cost in the groups transport (0.86%) and housing (1.17%). “The growth of 0.86% in the Transportation group index in May 2018 was due to increases in fuel prices.”
