‘Cock fighter’ kingpin gets 10 years for drug trafficking

Santo Domingo.-  The Santo Domingo Este 1st panel court on Thur. upheld the 10-year prison sentence handed down against Winston Rizik, convicted of drug trafficking, money laundering and illegal possession of weapons.

Also convicted was his brother Nelson Rizik to five years in prison for complicity.

In 2017, Santo Domingo province Appellate Court presiding judge Manuel del Socorro Pérez overturned the conviction and ordered a new trial against both defendants so that all parties could assess the evidence.

Today’s ruling also orders the confiscation of all seized assets including vast real estate holdings in several provinces, as well as all vehicles.

Winston Rizik, “El Gallero” (cock fighter) was convicted   of possessing 10 kilos of cocaine and an arsenal of weapons sezied in his residence in Monte Plata (east).

As for Nelson Rizik, he will serve the sentence under hose arrest.
