Agents arrest ex-official in State land sale fraud

Santo Domingo.- State businesses conglomerate (Corde) former director Leoncio Almánzar was arrested Thur. morning for his role in the fraudulent sale of State-owned lands in the Los Tres Brazos sector of Santo Domingo Este.

Almanzar was arrested after a raid on his home at 6am today, according to preliminary reports.

“Today at 11am, broadcast live through our social networks: Statement by the AG Jean Rodriguez on the corruption case of Los Tres Brazos,” the Justice Ministry said early Thur.

It adds that all the details on the case will be released in a press conference set for 11am.

Almanzar was fired from Corde when the media broke the scandal in early Jan., involving several companies led by Titulatec, that tried to resell the properties to the residents in the area.
