Foreign minister receives China’s 1st envoy to Dominican Republic

Miguel Vargas, Zhang Run

Santo Domingo.- Foreign minister, Miguel Vargas, on Tuesday received China’s newly appointed ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Zhang Run.

The Foreign Ministry said that after receiving the official document, Vargas welcomed Run and discussed the events that resulted in the establishment of relations between both nations on April 30.

They also discussed the strengthening of trade relations, cooperation and investment, and expanding the supply of national products to Chinese markets.

“China is Dominican Republic’s second trade partner in terms of imports,” says the Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Vargas said that having access to the Chinese market becomes a challenge for the national productive sectors, because of that country’s 1.3 billion consumers.
