Medina confirms Defense chief, taps new military brass

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina confirmed Defense minister, Rubén Darío Paulino, in the post by and appointed a new commanders in the Air Force, the Navy and the Army.

Presidency Communications Officer, Roberto Rodríguez Marchena Wednesday night tweeted that Estanilao Gonel Regalado was appointed commander of the Army, while Richard Vásquez was appointed commander of the Air Force.

He said Emilo Recio was appointed Commander of the Navy, and José Eugenio Matos was appointed president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), among other routine designations on or near Restoration Day, on Aug. 16.
