New China, US envoys arrive within two days of each other

Santo Domingo.- Incoming US ambassador, Robin Bernstein, will arrive in the country Thurs. via Las Americas International Airport, the US Embassy said in statement released Wed.

Washington’s envoy arrives just one day after China’s representative Zhang Run, who on Wed. became Beijing’s first envoy to the Caribbean nation.

The US Embassy said the diplomat will arrive from Miami on an American Airlines flight which will land at 2pm.

Bernstein recently presented her personal and professional credentials in a video posted by the US Embassy, where she affirms that she’s coming to the Dominican Republic to work for citizen security, education and economic growth.

It adds that Bernstein will issue a brief statement to the Dominican people upon arrival at the airport.
