Maimon, Dominican Republic.-  Energy and Mines minister Antonio Isa Conde on Sun. stressed that the environmental, economic and social sustainability is the most expedited way for mining development with social acceptance, which has in these times great technological opportunities to extract with less ecological impact.

He said the mining industry’s sustainability depends a lot on a “win-win” attitude from the companies, the Government and the communities.

Isa spoke during a visit to the tunnel sites of the Dominican Mining Consortium (Cormidom) in Cerro Maimón, central Monseñor Noel province, which the miner affirms is the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic.

Cormidom added that the underground mining model for gold will prolong the life of the project at a cost of over US$1.0 billion in the next few years.
