Tropical Storm Kirk prompts warning

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) issued a tropical storm warning for the country Wed. night due to the path of Tropical Storm Kirk, which is now in the eastern Caribbean.

It said Kirk moves towards the Lesser Antilles and at 7pm was located 415 kilometers east of Barbados (Lesser Antilles) with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph.

Onamet said that it provides “strict vigilance” to the phenomenon.

For its part the National Hurricane Center said Kirk is expected to pass south of Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Cuba and Jamaica this weekend.
