Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic is more competitive, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index 2018 report, where the country climbed 22 positions since 2017.
And though it went from 136 to 113 out of 140 nations evaluated on the issue of corruption, according to the publication, it still remains among the most corrupt, only above Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti and Venezuela.
Competitiveness director Rafael Paz said Dominican Republic has advanced from 104th to 82nd position in the Global Competitiveness Index and from 16 to 12 among 21 Latin American countries.
Speaking at the release of the document in the National Palace, Paz added that the Dominican Republic is the fifth country of 140 globally with the strongest improvement, with a score of 1.8.
