NYC street name honors icon Dominican musician

New York.-  Upper Manhattan’s Amsterdam Av. with 165th St. has been renamed Luis “Terror” Dias, in honor of the late eclectic musician and composer.

The designation of the intersection was approved by the NY City Council, on the initiative of councilman Ydanis Rodríguez, who represents District 10 of Upper Manhattan.

The corner will now bear the name of “Luis (Terror) Dias Way.

The ceremony at 5pm was attended by local authorities, musicians, producers and community activists in honor of Días, whose compositions include the Santo Domingo Carnival’s anthem, “Baila en la Calle.”
