Environment shutters store for selling protected parrotfish

La Romana, Dominican Republic.- The authorities on Tues. proceeded to shutter a seafood store for violating the Environmental Law that bans the sale of parrotfish in specific periods.

The store will be closed during 10 days according to the report, which notes that despite warnings, another businesses continues to sell that type of fish.

La Romana Province Environment director Alberto Pujols accompanied the inspectors who shuttered the store located in the Villa Verde sector, where they seized150 pounds of poached parrotfish or Comoros (Scarus Coeruleus).
