Energy base to rely more on renewables: official

Santo Domingo.- National Energy Commission (CNE), director Ángel Canó, on Wednesday said they promote policies to give renewable energies a higher proportion in the country’s energy base.

He said the CNE, together with the Energy and Mines Ministry, the State Electric Utility (CDEEE) and the Electricity Superintendence “adopted a protocol for the entry of new requests for renewable energy in the Dominican Republic.”

“This (the protocol) is in keeping with the tender proposal that will be convened by the Dominican Corporation of Electric and State Companies, on behalf of the distribution companies, both in thermal and renewable energies.”
