Electric Utility to add 2,025 MW in 2019

Santo Domingo.- State Electric Utility (CDEEE) CEO, Rubén Jiménez Bichara, said Tues. that  2,025 new megawatts will be added to the national grid in 2019 and that there were 1,025 new megawatts as of yesterday.

Interviewed by El Caribe, the official affirmed that the issue of generation is the Utility’s main focus.

“For a product to become cheaper it has to exist in abundance; for electrical service to be normalized we must have enough energy and at sustainable prices. Without that, all the plans that are designed will not go anywhere,” Jimenez said.

“That was the main axis of the three we designed and that also included the expansion and diversification of the matrix, distribution and transmission and efficiency,” he said.
