Environmental-business alliance presents new board

Santo Domingo.- With the assistance of executives, officials and personalities of the organizations allied to ECORED, the new board of directors of that entity was sworn in for the 2019-2021 period, chaired by Jake Kheel, vice president of the Grupo Puntacana Foundation.

The managers received the guests in the Embassy Garden room of the Embajador Hotel, where they heard the welcoming words of the executive director, María Alicia Urbaneja and the presentation of the management report by Rafael Izquierdo, president in the period 2016-2018, who thanked those who accompanied him in the transition and institutionalization of ECORED to become the Business Network for Sustainability.

The new board of directors chaired by Jake Kheel, vice president of the Grupo Puntacana Foundation includes Mariel Beras, of Banco Popular, as vice president; José Armenteros, of the SID Group, treasurer; Josefina Navarro, from BHD León, secretary, and Dania Heredia from Cemex, legal director.

Rita Tirado, from AES Dominicana; Vicky Malla, from Centro Cuesta Nacional; Pirigua Bonetti, of the Propagas Foundation; Wenceslao Soto, from the Rica Foundation, Jesús Moreno, from Helados Bon; Patricia Mejía, of Coca Cola Company; Christian Cabral, from the Tropigas Foundation; Mónika Harel, from Claro and Ingrid Lapaix, from Gerdau Metaldom.

Kheel affirmed that “I assume the responsibility of presiding over Ecored for the period 2019 to 2021 with great commitment and an agenda that includes the active participation of its members. We will continue working with the Ministry of the Environment and other environmental institutions to continue strengthening existing public policies and achieve new coherent policies.”

He stressed that “we will strengthen institutional ties with other business sector associations and organizations, to contribute to the sustainable use of natural resources. Finally, we will create opportunities to share the diverse experiences and good environmental practices of the members of Ecored to motivate an increase in the commitment of other companies.”
