Imposing French yacht visits Bahia de Las Aguilas beach

Pedernales, Dominican Republic.- The luxury French-registry yacht Le Ponant anchored off Bahia de Las Aguilas beach in southwestern Pedernales with 58 passengers and 34 crew, the Tourism Ministry said in a statement Monday.

It stressed the importance of the boat’s arrival and its few-hour stay Sunday. It previously docked in Santiago de Cuba with Santo Domingo, Catalina Island, La Romana, St Kitts, Antigua and other islands of the Caribbean its next stops.

Upon arrival at the site the three-mast Le Ponant was received by Tourism Ministry Cruise deputy director Marlenis Pérez who affirmed the Government’s commitment to develop cruise tourism and that more visitors come every year by sea to the destination that “has it all.”

“Cruise tourism can be the gateway to large-scale tourism development in Pedernales province, having the potential to build a select consumer market.”
