The country’s 3rd biggest city gets a beltway

San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic.- The Public Works Ministry on Thurs. broke ground for the San Francisco de Macorís beltway, which is expected to boost the Northeast region’s development.

Deputy Public Works minister Ramón Pepín, said the beltway will ease traffic congestion in the country’s third biggest city, save fuel and time, reduce carbon monoxide emissions and decrease traffic accidents.

“And apart from all those benefits, this beltway will raise the quality of life of the people, as is the wish of president Danilo Medina,” he said.
