Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Jean Alain Rodríguez, on Friday met with of New York Federal District Attorney Geoffrey Berman, to discuss international legal cooperation and issues related to the fight against corruption, trafficking in persons and other organized crimes.
The trip comes amid scathing rebuke of Rodriguez for his allegations last week against Supreme Court justice Miriam German.
Both officials discussed the transnational impact of those crimes and the collaboration to prevent and combat of them, which currently affect a large number of countries, the Justice Ministry said in a statement.
The official’s trip also takes place after Puerto Rico District Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodriguez, revealed that members of drug gang Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cantera were in the Dominican Republic, a report which caught local authorities by surprise.
Berman also prosecuted the Odebrecht graft case in the US.
