Lakeland, Fla.- Four Dominican Government agencies intend to increase the visits by private planes for tourism in the country, as a way to contribute to president Danilo Medina’s announced goal of attracting at least 10 million foreigners per year.
Airports Department director Marino Collante, on Fri. said Dominican officials signed an agreement with Bahamian and the Virgin Islands authorities to exchange that type of private aviation tourism with those island-countries.
He said the Dominican Republic currently receives around 500 private planes that land at the country’s airports and airfields.
Speaking in the Lakeland Aviation Fair, Collante added that Bahamian authorities approached their Dominican counterparts to strengthen relations and promote the visits of private aviation tourists.
